Monday: JJ and I

I watched JJ Abrams’ talk on Ted the other night.  He’s got a lot going on.  So many simultaneous projects!  This got me to thinking–maybe I, too, should have simultaneous projects.

So far, my forward thinking has extended only to the point of finding an agent.  I assumed that once I had that settled, everything else would just fall into place.

I realize now that that’s not the case.  The agent will want me to go through at least one more edit on my book before she takes it to editors and publishing houses.  Then, more rejection, more editing.  Then, once it’s published, marketing.  What if it doesn’t sell?

It’s so easy to get caught up in and discouraged with the business side of book writing. Instead, I am going to follow JJ’s lead and work on developing a simultaneous project. All I have been doing since last July is editing, and I miss writing.  Why write books if you don’t get a chance to write books?  A second books sounds exciting!
