Monday: Who are you reading?

These days, a lot of Annie Gebler.

It was helpful to read novels written by other people while I was working on my first draft.  I think I learned the most when I read and wrote papers on flawed books. The Godfather for example. Great movies, but as a book, it’s got some issues.

Now every time I try to read, it just doesn’t feel right. I wish it did, because I love libraries and book stores! But I think I need time to be alone with my book, without any other plots or characters in my head.

  1. I’m with you. Becoming a writer has ruined my enjoyment of some books. A lot of books. Books I really want to like, but I’m just so hung up on the POV problems and excessive use of adverbs that I can’t get into the story and enjoy it.
