I just realized that my novel might be science fiction. I wouldn’t consider it a fantasy– everything that happens in the book could actually happen in real life. But my characters are scientists working with a machine gone bad. Fiction about science= science fiction?

Yes, but Bradbury and Vonnegut did not like the term “Science Fiction>” And any english prof. will swear Brave New World and 1984 are not science fiction but literature. So it goes.

Ah, yes. I am very confused. I’m not sure that it even matters that much, but I thought that I’d start looking into agents who work more with science fiction. Maybe my luck will be better there.
